How do I replace the CV Joints on my Holden Jackaroo ?

I remove the calipers, disconnected the upper and lower control arms and removed the spindles, but can't get the shaft/ inner cv joint out of the front diff. I was told that they would just pull out, (with a bit of a hard yank to get the clip to popped) but I just can't get them to come out. Is there something else I missed, or some special tooling I need?
